SOCIETY OF ONTARIO FREETHINKERS

Founded in southwestern Ontario in 1992, the Society of Ontario Freethinkers (SOFREE) is a dynamic, not-for-profit, charitable organization that promotes freethought, Humanism, critical thinking, and supports the separation of religion and government. Humanists, atheists, agnostics, skeptics, rationalists, and transhumanists, are all welcome under our secular umbrella.

SOFREE has members from Sarnia to Niagara Falls and collaborates with several like-minded Canadian and U.S. organizations, such as the Institute for Humanist Studies, Skeptics Canada, the Humanist Association of Canada, and the Freedom from Religion Foundation.

Our youth initiative, Camp Quest Ontario, is the only critical-thinking summer camp for children aged 7-16 in Canada

Our multimedia initiative, Freethought TV, was showcases Humanist perspectives on regional, provincial and national issues affecting Humanists, and to promote Humanist culture and events. Freethought TV is currently streamed to the SOFREE website and will be streamed to the HAC website shortly.

SOFREE actively supports and promotes university campus groups across Ontario. Click here to read about our new partnership with the McMaster Association of Secular Humanists.

In April 2007, SOFREE, in cooperation with other like-minded individuals launched, Canadian Freethinker, a new magazine that advances freethought and secularism in Canada. This quarterly periodical discusses issues affecting civil and human rights, promotes events and projects for Humanist groups and the humanist community at large.

Please feel free to email us at any time should you have any ideas or queries.
